The UK date of the Ozzfest took place yesterday, May 26th, and by all accounts, it was a great show, with all the bands reportedly having put on great performances that will be remembered for a long time to come. According to reports, SOULFLY were joined by both Corey Taylor from SLIPKNOT and Tom Araya from SLAYER during their set for renditions of 'Jumpdaf.ckup' and 'Terrorist' from SOULFLY's Primitive release, while BLACK SABBATH frontman Ozzy Osbourne pulled out a harmonica and played 'The Wizard' during an impressive headlining set that included another airing of the new track 'Scary Dreams' that was first performed at the Birmingham Academy four days earlier. Elsewhere, PAPA ROACH frontman Coby Dick was seen hobbling around backstage after the group's performance claiming that he had twisted his knee, while SLIPKNOT spared no expense by delivering a stunning performance that included loads of stage props—fireworks, a huge film screen and bizarre hydraulic lifting drumkits—that proved not just a favorite with the crowd, but also with Osbourne, who reportedly referred to the masked act as 'the future of metal'.

LEADFOOT, featuring former C.O.C. vocalist Karl Agell and bassist Phil Swisher, have ended their self-imposed hiatus by announcing a host of east coast live appearances and an upcoming European tour as the support band for RAGING SLAB (which is tentatively scheduled to take place between September 14th and October 14th). NOTHINGFACE have reportedly parted ways with ex-THE DEADLIGHTS bassist Jerry Montano and have rejoined forces with former four-stringer Bill Gaal.

Finland's H.I.M. made a surprise appearance as the opening act for THE 69 EYES at the latter band's sold-out headlining show at The Tavastia in Helsinki on Friday, May 25th. H.I.M. reportedly previewed four new songs that will be included on the band's forthcoming third full-length CD, tentatively titled Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights, which is due out on August 27th.

Dan Swano's NIGHTINGALE were forced to cancel their scheduled appearance in Finspång on June 2nd after drummer Tom Björn injured his knee and shoulder in a nasty crash with his motorcycle. He's expected to fully recover in the coming weeks.

Germany's PRIMAL FEAR have reportedly begun the songwriting process for their next studio album, the lyrical content of which will be based on a story of eagles heading into the universe searching for the Black Sun (an early possibility for the album title). The recordings will take place in December/January at the House Of Music Studios in Germany, with a tentative release date of April 29th, 2002.

DEEP PURPLE's appearance at Parco Novi Sad in Modena, Italy on Tuesday May 29th, as part of a Pavarotti &amp Friends show in aid of Afghanistan, will reportedly be filmed by MTV Europe for an upcoming news segment.

Maryland's GARDEN OF SHADOWS will reportedly be the opening band on the upcoming VADER US tour. More details as they become available.

Former EIDOLON bassist Criss Bailey has formed a new band called BRUIZ, which is currently working on its debut CD.

SILENT FORCE entered House of Music Studios in Winterbach, Germany on April 23rd to record the follow-up to their successful debut The Empire Of Future. Tentatively titled Infatuator, the bulk of the new album is once again being produced by Alex Beyrodt and engineered/mixed by Achim Koeler, while the vocal recordings are due to be laid down at VPS Studio in Hamm, Germany between June 13th and June 26th with producer Victor Smolski of RAGE. Infatuator will be mixed between July 24th and August 12th at House Of Music, and it is tentatively scheduled to be released on November 7th in Japan and November 12th in Europe.

NASHVILLE PUSSY's dressing room was reportedly raided by thieves on Wednesday, May 23rd while the band was on stage at the Peg in Winnipeg, Manitoba. No suspects have yet been apprehended, and NASHVILLE PUSSY have not allowed this setback to stop them from continuing their Canadian tour, which takes them through the end of the month. Swedish grindcore merchants NASUM will have a live recording of their show at Pipeline in Sundsvall, Sweden (recorded on the group's Close-Up Made Us Do It tour with THE HAUNTED) broadcast via Swedish Radio (P3) on Thursday, May 31st between 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM CET.

HALFORD frontman Rob Halford recently addressed the issue of his use of a teleprompter during the group's live shows by stating the following in an interview with the German Hammer magazine: 'This is a bizarre matter. During the rehearsals I realized with fear that I couldn't remember several words and passages of the lyrics. I worked hard on solving this defect but it happened again and again. For me this is inexplicable. For security reasons we used the teleprompter for help. I'm sorry, if some people are offended by this but I want to give the fans a flawless show and don't make a fool out of me. I'm going to consult a doctor in the near future for inquiry on this. I hope, that I'm not seriously ill.'

HOLE's Courtney Love has teamed with FAITH NO MORE / IMPERIAL TEEN man Roddy Bottom to record the soundtrack to her next movie Hello Suckers. According to a posting on HOLE's official web site (hole.com),Courtney has already recorded demos of some old standards for the flick including 'The Prisoner's Song', 'There'll Be Some Changes Made' and 'Alexander's Rag Time Band'. Love and Bottum are also expected to write and record some original material for the movie. Meanwhile, IMPERIAL TEEN have started work on their third album, with Roddy having so far recorded eight songs for the as-yet-untitled CD.

France's LYZANXIA have secured a deal with Canada's Skyscraper to distribute their Eden CD throughout Canada, USA and Australia. The group have also shot a video clip for the track 'Bewitched' over a four-day period 133 meters under the earth at the coalmine La Mine Bleue with director Jahann 'Predator' Jouin.

Dutch death metallers HOUWITSER have parted ways with singer Arjaan 'Djortzzz' Kampman and have replaced him with Stan Blonck. The revamped line-up will enter Excess Studios on July 28th to record the grup's upcoming CD, tentatively titled Rage Inside The Womb, which is due out at the end of the year.

Germany's JESTER'S FUNERAL have started an instrumental side project called SMACK whose material will be solely composed by lead guitarist Gerrit Wolf. The group's first live performance will take place on June 3rd at Open Ohr in Mainz, Germany.

After a short stint under the RUBBER moniker, Canadian melodic rockers HAREM SCAREM have reformed and are set to return to their classic Mood Swings sound on a forthcoming CD, which is due out in February 2002 through Now &amp Then Productions / Frontiers Records.

Australia's PEGAZUS have demoed three new songs for their upcoming CD, tentatively titled The Headless Horseman, and have also laid down a tribute song that was written about THIN LIZZY frontman Philip Lynott, which was originally recorded and planned for a special EP type of release, but that will now also be included on the forthcoming set. The band were originally planning on hitting the studio in June to record the album, but have now postponed the recording sessions to July or August due to drummer Robbie Stoj's upcoming operation, which will put him out of commission for the foreseeable future. Described as very traditional, melodic and very typical PEGAZUS, the group's upcoming album will include the following tracks, among others:

RUNNING WILD and Sanctuary Records are contemplating releasing an Anthology CD of sorts, featuring all the classic RD material dating back to the group's earliest days, and are asking the band's fans for their opinion on whether such a release should see the light of day. TYGERS OF PAN TANG guitarist Rob Weir has signed an endorsement deal with Maverick Guitars.

ADEMA is a five-piece band from Bakersfield, California fronted by Mark Chavez, the half-brother of KORN singer Jonathan Davis, whose self-titled debut was produced by WALLFLOWERS guitarist Tobias 'Tobi' Miller and is due for release on August 21st. Other members of the group's line-up include ex-VIDEODRONE drummer Kris Kohls and former members of JUICE, the band that grew out of the ashes of SEXART, which featured Davis and ORGY guitarist Ryan Shuck.
